Memorial of an unknown Wife

„The soul needs firm soles so it doesn’t wear out. Especially on unfamiliar roads. And the fact that you pay more than the locals for not getting along is the price of the exchange rate. That’s the way it is everywhere with exchange.“

In her unpublished lyrical legacy, the unknown wife Elena Ratscheva-Müller vividly portrays the German petty bourgeoisie from the perspective of a Bulgarian migrant woman. In this international co-production, based on forgotten essays and poems, mother and son enter into a political-emotional dialogue between this side and the other, yesterday and today, Bulgaria and Germany, „masc“ and „fem“. How much of our parents lives on in us…?
